You'll be picked up from your hotel or airport and drive to Masai Mara National Reserve. The drive will take 5 to 6 hours. You'll arrive in time for lunch. Masai Mara National Reserve is a pristine wilderness beauty. It promises its visitors a profusion of wildlife, prolific bird life, and the opportunity to see all the members of the Big Five in one morning. The 1,800 sq. km of this veteran reserve offers a mix of African imagery; miles of lion-gold grasslands, shoals of lilac-misted hills, a meandering river, acres of thorn-bush, and mile upon mile of undulating wilderness. Game viewing in the Masai Mara is excellent all year round thanks to the diverse population of resident game, including the Big Five plus popular species like zebras, giraffes, hyenas, eland, and gazelles. In addition, Masai Mara’s big cats are stars in a wildlife TV series. You will enjoy an afternoon game viewing as an introduction to the park. This migration is one of nature's most remarkable wildlife spectacles. The sheer number of wildebeest arriving in the area is staggering. You can take advantage of the optional activities at an extra cost, the hot air balloon safari and a visit to the Maasai village visit. The migration is a dramatic mass movement of almost two million wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles in a seasonal, annual cycle driven by rainfall. Wildebeest make dramatic river crossings and face enormous crocodiles to reach the new grazing fields and regain their strength. You will return to the camp for dinner and your overnight stay.
